The boondoggle at the Oklahoma County Jail has reached critical mass. Oklahoma County Sheriff P.D. Taylor has become an embarassment of national porportions. He and his Undersheriff Will Blaik, who is actually the named administrator of the facility, have put not only Oklahoma County citizens at risk with their latest display of keystone coppery, but endangered their fellow law enforcement officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as well.
“OKLAHOMA CITY – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Antonio Ulises Perez, a 38-year-old illegal alien from El Salvador accused of rape, Wednesday, after the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) failed to honor an ICE detainer and released him from custody.” -U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) PRESS RELEASE [10/10/19]
“Unfortunately, this is not an isolated event. Over the past few months, Oklahoma County has routinely failed to honor ICE detainers by releasing criminal aliens back into the local community before ICE has the opportunity to take custody.”
“Almost immediately following his release from the Oklahoma County Jail on Oct. 9, Ulises Perez went to the home of the woman he is alleged to have raped. The victim contacted the police and Ulises Perez fled the scene.”
Why are the taxpayers of Oklahoma County paying Sheriff P.D. Taylor ($126,157.18), Undersheriff Will Blaik ($119,859.59), Chief Deputy Rickey Barrow ($116,635.14), Captain James “Jim” Anderson ($96,356.24), Attorney Danny Honeycutt ($86,908.84) and PIO Mark Myers ($65,917.60) a combined $500,000+ to operate a #SanctuaryJail in Oklahoma City and throw shade at ICE? (see OCSO statement in link below:)
Antonio Ulises Perez was arrested on Sept. 30, after tearing a woman’s clothes off and beating her in front her 5 year-old son. The woman was then dragged by Perez into the bedroom of her apartment and raped.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a 48 hour detainer with the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office on Oct. 8, which Sheriff P.D. Taylor and Undersheriff Will Blaik chose to disregard. In the middle of the night and just hours after the request to hold Perez had been made by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Antonio was released at approximately 3 a.m. Upon his release from the Oklahoma County jail, Perez immediately returned to the apartment in an attempt to further harass or even attack his victim again. This is not the first time that the OCSO has ignored a request from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“It is unconscionable that someone who is sworn to uphold the law would find it acceptable to release an alleged rapist who is illegally present in the U.S. back into the community when there are other options available under federal immigration law,”
“Within a few hours of being released, this illegal alien was back at the home of the rape victim where he was free to re-victimize her and harm other members of the community. Fortunately, ICE deportation officers were able to quickly locate this individual and safely take him back into custody.” -Marc Moore, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)
Thank G-d this illegal immigrant and violent criminal did not take the opportunity to arm himself, break into and barricade, or even booby trap the apartment. If he had, there could have been U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents paying the ultimate price for Sheriff P.D. Taylor’s negligence.
Some might consider this unforgiving, but we at Oklahoma Taxpayers Unite! have seen quite enough:
The embarrassments you and the OCSO leadership have brought upon Oklahoma County with your ineptitude as our jail administrators can not be allowed to continue. Oklahoma County Sheriff P.D. Taylor it is time for you to #ResignNow. Oklahoma County is not a sanctuary county, Oklahoma City is not a sanctuary city and Oklahoma County Jail is not a sanctuary jail.
